Following in the footsteps of the Royal Portfolio Collection’s Royal Malewane comes Cape Town’s latest iconic hotel, The Silo. Situated in South Africa’s oldest working harbor, with 360-degree views sweeping Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront and the Atlantic Ocean, The Silo is already receiving critical acclaim as a new benchmark for luxury boutique hotels.
Staying at the Silo Hotel Cape Town achieves one thing spectacularly. Whether you’re travelling for business or leisure, it turns your accommodation in Cape Town into an experiential trip highlight.
Originally built in 1924, the building previously served as a grain silo. Today, the hotel occupies the six floors above the Zeits MOCAA Museum. The Museum of Contemporary African Art, as it is otherwise known, is slated for launch sometime later in 2017.
The exterior of the building was left largely untouched, whereas the owners have opted for a bold, eclectic and frequently lavish interior style to contrast and soften the building’s industrial DNA.
As is the case with most of the Royal Portfolio Collection’s properties, the setting is intimate. The Silo Hotel has followed suit; only 28 keys are available, keeping the clientele and atmosphere quite exclusive. The service is sharp and attentive, but not overbearingly so.
The hotel restaurant, The Granary, is headed up by Executive Chef Veronica Canha-Hibbert. The restaurant presents a contemporary French bistro menu, however the V&A precinct offers a wide range of high quality restaurants and eateries within walking distance.
But before you head anywhere for dinner, sundowner cocktails on the hotel’s 11th floor rooftop terrace is mandatory. Situated atop Sub-Saharan Africa’s formerly tallest building, the terrace offers breathtaking views of the Mother City.
But don’t take our word for it, book a stay at The Silo Hotel in Cape Town and discover this rare pleasure for yourself?
